Les Bassans occupies the former Manoir du Sphinx at Perros-Guirec, built at the start of the 20th century on the point above Trestignel beach and known as a hotel of the Pink Granite Coast since 1936. The house takes its name from the northern gannet, Europe's largest seabird, which breeds on Rouzic Island offshore.
All 25 rooms face the sea and each is given a telescope. Jean-Pascal Gebka cooks in the restaurant, the bar leans on iodine and cocktails, and in season a shack on the seafront opens an oyster bar once a week.
The Alaena spa is organic-certified, with jacuzzi, sauna, hammam, Nordic bath and solarium. The restoration used FSC oak, hemp panels and Breton makers, and is working towards BREEAM Very Good.
