Les Hortensias du Lac faces the marine lake at Hossegor, with the ocean two hundred metres behind it through the pines. The Art Deco building has been given a surf-lodge character with Hamptons and Californian borrowings, across 25 rooms and suites.
Philippe Moreno, who cooked at Gérald Passédat's Le Petit Nice in Marseille, runs the restaurant; the Beach House on the lakeside terrace handles lunch and the evening drink. An infinity pool looks over the water, and a spa of 450 square metres works with myBlend, with hammam, sauna and Nordic bath.
There is a secure surf room, paddleboards and bicycles. The hotel holds Green Key certification.
